About This Blog

I’m Mel. A forty something park ranger who lives on Norfolk Island…and who, well….just really likes walking. I’m hoping this blog will capture my amazing experiences as a solo (mostly!), female hiker and encourage others that are planning similar trips.

Happy place….

  2. Just checking whether you get this. Love the photos! What an awesome, if cruisy, walk! Did that green river have little floating algae plants on it? Reminds me of the stuff that used to get on the Kingston mill dam….hope youve been able to dry everything out today! 🤞🤞😘

  5. Hi Mel, it was great to meet you on the Cooloola walk. I admire your sense of adventure with the solo walking, I haven’t done much of that. (Not yet – just have to break the news to the rest of my group?!) Happy to report we got back to Noosa in time for our dinner.

Loved your write-up of the walk, great pics too. And the GNW as well- what a coincidence, I think our paths will probably cross again.

  16. Hi Mel,
Congratulations on the achievement of finishing the trail!

When you have had time to celebrate and re-adjust to normal life, I’m wondering if you would have the time to put something together for our readers of the Trailwalker magazine. You write beautifully. If you are interested, then please drop me a line at some stage.

Congratulations, again. You are an inspiration!

    Tammy 🙂
